Smart Control Unit CU2

One control unit. One app. No server.

New

The STS Control Unit CU2 is the access and actuator control for motorhomes and caravans: one control unit for every door and hatch, connected to the vehicle CAN bus and operated by the vehicle key, a smartphone app, a PIN on the vehicle – or automatically when the owner walks away. No server, no user account, no running costs.

Product advantages

Features & benefits

  • Controls up to 8 motorised locks, 2 potential-free switching outputs and 2 status inputs (expandable on request)
  • Operated by vehicle key (via CAN), smartphone app, PIN on the vehicle or keyless-go
  • Zone selection: entire vehicle, living area, left side or right side
  • All hatches can also be opened with the manufacturer's vehicle key – via the base vehicle CAN bus
  • Real-time status monitoring of all locks via position contacts
  • No server, no user account, no running costs – works on a pitch without mobile coverage
  • Stainless-steel keypad for the outside of the body with 16 freely configurable, expirable access codes
  • Up to 8 phones, each with its own key
  • Every command individually signed – a recorded command is worthless
  • Signed over-the-air firmware updates with automatic rollback
  • Not tied to any vehicle make – retrofittable, even in existing fleets
  • One part number for all models: installation is configured in the app, not engineered
  • Developed and manufactured in Germany

Six reasons for the CU2

What sets the CU2 apart:

Retrofittable – even in existing fleets
Manufacturer-independent
Replay-proof commands
No server, no account
Configuration lives in the vehicle
Cost-efficient · Made in Germany
System

How it works

One system. All doors.
System architecture

One system. All doors.

The CU2 bundles permissions, evaluates door states and switches the locking of every door. It takes commands from the base vehicle over CAN (including the manufacturer's own vehicle key), from a phone over Bluetooth, and from the keypad on the vehicle. Each door is connected with its actuator and a position contact.

  • Base vehicle ECU – on-board electronics, central locking, vehicle key (CAN)
  • Mobile device – wireless access without a key
  • Keypad – code entry at the vehicle (cable)
  • Expandable to up to 8 doors and hatches
No server. No account. No running costs.
Direct connection instead of cloud

No server. No account. No running costs.

Configuration, codes and the event log live in the control unit, not in the phone or a cloud. A new phone picks up the installation automatically on pairing.

  • Works everywhere – even on a pitch with no mobile coverage
  • No shutdown risk – no cloud service that could one day render the vehicle inoperable
  • No movement data – no personal data to store or protect
Stainless-steel keypad and 16 access codes
Access at the vehicle

Stainless-steel keypad and 16 access codes

Twelve stainless-steel keys for the outside of the body, plugged in rather than wired. Each code has its own action, channel selection, optional time window and usage limit: a master code, a service code for a single hatch or a rental code per booking. Codes are stored only as a hash and can never be read out.

  • Keypad and protective cover adaptable to your design
  • Rental code per booking that expires on its own
  • Service code for a single hatch
Locks automatically when the owner walks away
Keyless-go

Locks automatically when the owner walks away

The phone's signal strength is averaged over a time window and compared against two thresholds with hysteresis, so detection does not flip back and forth. Calibration takes two guided measurements in the app – no RF know-how required. Time-window averaging and re-arm lockout are field-verified on hardware.

One hardware for every installation
Integration

One hardware for every installation

Running direction, pulse duration and contact configuration are set per channel in the app, with a test run on the vehicle. The lock type defines the behaviour, and the power stage never works against a blocked mechanism. For series production that means one part number for all models, suppliers and mounting positions.

  • Running direction reversed by a switch, not rewired
  • Pulse duration matched to the mechanism, in milliseconds
  • Normally closed or normally open: configured, not assumed
Two independent layers, down to every command
Security

Two independent layers, down to every command

Layer 1: LE Secure Connections with passkey, protected against man-in-the-middle; legacy pairing is rejected. Layer 2: every command is individually signed with a per-phone key and carries a running counter, so a recorded command is worthless even if the Bluetooth encryption were broken.

  • Secure boot – only signed firmware runs
  • Readout protection – a stolen control unit reveals nothing
  • Controlled enrolment – new phones only with approval at the vehicle
  • Secure updates – signed, with automatic rollback

Value for every target group

Vehicle manufacturer

One control unit instead of several individual solutions for door, storage hatch and service hatch. Signed updates over the entire vehicle life – without a workshop visit.

End customer

No more keys: unlock via phone, PIN on the vehicle or automatically when walking away. Time-limited codes for cleaning, workshop and guests.

Rental & sharing

Contactless handover: one code per booking that expires on its own. No key depot, no copied keys – compromised codes are simply deleted.

Workshop & retrofit

One device for every installation situation: set parameters in the app and test immediately. Troubleshooting via the status LED – no laptop needed.

Insurers & operators

Complete log in the device: switching events, rejected codes, automatic locking – stored in the vehicle and not attributable to any person.

Optional features on the roadmap

LIN bus

Drive body actuators directly – no second wiring loom.

CI bus per CIVD

The CU2 as a participant in the body's on-board network.

Channel sounding

Distance via phase measurement – effective against relay attacks.

OEM on-board systems

Access and body control in a single interface.

Aliro

Digital keys in the phone's wallet.

Matter

The vehicle in the smart home – with routines such as departure and arrival.
